Billing — Stripe Customer Portal

The Stripe Customer Portal is a Stripe-hosted page where you manage your billing relationship with FlowState. It is only available for tenants that signed up via the direct Stripe path. If you signed up via AWS Marketplace, manage your subscription from the AWS Marketplace console.

Accessing the portal

  1. Go to Settings → Billing in FlowState.
  2. Click Open billing portal.
  3. FlowState generates a Stripe Customer Portal session and redirects you. The session is valid for 5 minutes.

You need the tenant:billing:write permission, held by both the owner and admin roles (see RBAC → Roles) — not owner only. Members and viewers with only tenant:billing:read can view billing information in FlowState but cannot open the Stripe portal.

If you signed up via AWS Marketplace, this button is not for you — use the AWS Marketplace console instead. See AWS Marketplace.

You can also open the portal via MCP: open_billing_portal(return_url?).

What you can do in the portal

  • View invoices — download PDF invoices for any past billing period.
  • Update payment method — add or replace a credit card or SEPA direct debit mandate.
  • Cancel subscription — cancel the flowstate-pro subscription. Cancellation always takes effect at the end of the current billing period; there is no way to cancel immediately today.

What you cannot do from the portal

  • Change tier — there is only one tier in v1. Tier changes are not applicable.
  • Apply credit — there is no free-credit or promotional-credit mechanism in FlowState. See Tiers.
  • Switch to AWS Marketplace — billing path changes require support assistance and cannot be self-served.

Invoice delivery

Stripe sends invoices to the email address on the Stripe customer record. This defaults to the tenant owner’s email at the time of signup. To update the billing email, use the Stripe Customer Portal or contact support.

Cancellation

When your subscription ends — whether you cancel it yourself in the portal or it lapses — your tenant enters the same 30-day deletion process as an owner-initiated delete. See Deleting your tenant for what happens and how to restore it within that window.
